Graphic Design: Mimicry Project

Graphic Design: Mimicry Project

Inspiration:
After seeing the food flags produced by an Australian advertising agency which depicted countries such as the flag of Italy in the form of food, (Basil, Spaghetti, and Noodles were used to create the green, white, and red color of the flag) I wanted to recreate a similar idea.

Process:
I enjoyed the fact that the food flags had meaning because the food that made up the flag showed the ingredients the culture is known for. With that in mind I decided to create the form of animals out of the food they are also known to eat. As you can see my method was to chop and toothpick pieces together.

VDAY: Mission Accomplished

Fin.

VDAY Step 3: Personalized CD Case/ Video

Video:
I really like creating videos and although I am not an expert editor I believe I did pretty well :)
The theme is vintage with a great cover of "Can't Take My Eye's Off of You" by a YouTube singer named Arielle (I will link up below).

Personlized CD:
Of course majoring in Graphic Design and having recently done a CD project I had to apply my creative learning to this vday project. It's a quite simple concept. I met my boyfriend because we are both DJ's and went to a reopening of a warehouse for DJ equipment. Music was what brought us together and that's what's represented in the CD booklet. No real reason for the vintage theme other than I like it and it is romantic for this occasion.

VDAY Step 2: Lovely Note

This is just a simple note I made for my baby for vday. Pretty simple but I thought I'd post the process a bit just in case anyone was curious.

Process:

Pretty simple process. I wrote the letter in black pen on beige textured cardstock. I crumpled it up, which can be pretty difficult with stiff paper, be gentle or it may tear. I think it was best to use this paper though because it is thick and the ink doesn't seep through the other side. I went the traditional route and slightly burned the edges of the paper. To add a worn look I used some brown hues of watercolor to make it grungy. That's about it!

VDAY Step 1: Chocolates

It took me quite a while to creatively express to my love how much he means to me. Overall I accomplished this with chocolates, a lovely note, and a video. As I was rushed to finish this project I didn't take as many step by step snaps as I would have liked to so I could share with others, but I will do my best to explain. ENJOY.

VDAY Step 1: Chocolates

Inspiration: My boo loves mint chocolate so I decided to make him some with a special twist.

"Mint White Chocolate Oreo Hearts"

Ingredients:
Mint Chocolate Melting Candy
White Chocolate Melting Candy
Oreos

Supplies:
Heart Chocolate Mold
Ziplock bag or Squeeze Bottle (Recommended)
Red Candy Wrappers

Directions:

Step 1.) Make white chocolate drizzle design:
Fill melted white chocolate into ziplock bag and cut the corner of the bag to use for drizzling chocolate onto mold. You can also buy a squeeze bottle which makes things much easier. This becomes the first layer of the chocolate.

Step 2.) Create original chocolate, Oreo Mint!:
Smash the oreos up and mix with melted mint chocolate. For a crunchy taste leave the pieces of the oreo bigger. Then pour this on top of the drizzle design. Make sure to leave enough room for the bottom white chocolate layer. This becomes the second layer.

Step 3.) Add layer of lovely white chocolate:
Simply add the layer of white chocolate, wrap very legit-like in red wrapper foil and done. Put into freezer to harden the chocolate quickly. Now sit back and enjoy minty, crunchy chocolaty goodness!

An Artistic Adventure

Hi I'm newwwbie. Join me on my adventure.

Much overdue is the start of this very blog. It will be a place I can develop and discover my own artistic self. I will motivate myself to express all creative outbursts in my mind and share them with the world. Hope you enjoy while I travel on my way.
